DEEP TIME
We had the opportunity once again to work with Vivid Sydney, who commissioned us to create a second projection mapping artwork, Deep Time, for the festival. Vivid Sydney is one of Australia’s largest festivals, attracting around 3.5 million visitors each year.

Deep time describes the vast scale of geological history, spanning approximately 4.54 billion years since the formation of Earth. It offers a perspective on processes that are almost impossible to perceive within a human lifetime, from the movement of tectonic plates and shifts in climate to the evolution of life over millions of years.
Inspired by this immense temporal scale, the artwork takes the viewer on an abstract journey through the transformations that have shaped our planet. Layers, structures and organic forms emerge, evolve and dissolve, suggesting the constant processes of creation, change, and decay that occur across geological time.

By shifting our perspective beyond human history, Deep Time invites us to consider our existence as part of a much larger planetary timeline. It reflects on the temporary nature of human civilizations and the lasting impact of our actions, encouraging a deeper awareness of our relationship with the planet and its future.
